chekd — Refund Policy
DRAFT — not yet published. Not legal advice. Effective date: [TBD on publish]. This document requires counsel review before it takes effect: the effective date, the active plan lineup (Free + chekd Plus at the $9.99/mo Founding Member launch price), the refund-execution and Merchant-of-Record wording, the offline-key entitlement wording, and the consumer-law savings language must all be confirmed before publication.
The one-sentence version: cancel anytime and you’re never billed again; your first charge has a 14-day no-questions money-back window; and your own local data is never held hostage.
1. Subscription: cancel anytime, no further billing
chekd Plus is a monthly subscription ($9.99/mo at the Founding Member launch price). You can cancel at any time through the LemonSqueezy customer portal (linked from your receipt and from chekd’s Settings → License) — no phone call, no chat gauntlet, no retention maze. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period: you keep chekd Plus access until then, and you are never billed again after that. We don’t do partial-period refunds for cancellation, except where §2 or your local law requires otherwise.
What you keep after cancelling — the cancellation promise. Your taste and design artifacts and your correction corpus live on your machine as plain files, and they are yours. After cancellation you always retain read and export access to your own local taste/design artifacts and corpus outputs. Cancellation gates what’s generated next — future premium generation, ongoing taste compilation, FULLFIX and higher-autonomy runs (chekd-ON), and premium model/provider orchestration — it never removes or blocks access to your existing local data.
2. 14-day money-back on your first charge
If chekd Plus isn’t for you, email [email protected] or contact LemonSqueezy within 14 days of your first charge and we’ll refund it, no interrogation. Charges for a renewal period you didn’t intend are likewise eligible for refund if you contact us within 14 days of that charge. Nothing in this policy limits non-waivable consumer rights in your jurisdiction.
3. Offline license keys already issued
chekd license keys are cryptographically signed and verified offline, on your machine — chekd never phones home to validate a license, and a perpetual offline key cannot be remotely revoked once issued (a deliberate privacy-preserving product choice; see the Terms of Service §5). Keys already issued therefore follow the entitlement semantics, not a technical kill-switch:
- A refund, subscription lapse, or termination ends your legal right to the paid features, even though the key may still technically validate.
- On refund or lapse you agree to stop using the paid features and delete the key.
- Your own local artifacts and corpus remain readable and exportable regardless (§1) — the entitlement gate applies to future premium generation, never to your existing local data.
4. How refunds are executed
Purchases are processed by LemonSqueezy as Merchant of Record, so refunds are executed by LemonSqueezy back to your original payment method, typically within a few business days of approval (bank posting times vary). LemonSqueezy also reserves its own right to issue refunds (e.g., to head off a chargeback) within its own window, under its buyer terms.
